Elite Sport Skills for Succeeding in Business

Last week I was the “live event” for an Intuit social media training. I shared 3 secrets to succeeding anyway when disaster strikes. Because….that moment when I got run into a curb on the last day of racing before the Paralympic Games and broke my collarbone…that was basically a “disaster.” But it did turn out alright in the end.

It’s always fun to be able to share my story and inspire others. But the really interesting stuff always happens afterward in conversation with attendees.

This time, it was the realization that another major corporation is taking advantage of the crossover between sport mental skills (think: goal setting, team building, and focus) and what it takes to make a business successful.

Since starting this story-telling stuff about 10 years ago, I’ve spent a lot of time considering how to take my athletic experience and make it relevant to non-elite-athletes. Maybe not everyone wants to be an Olympian, but everyone can benefit from using the skills we use.

Want to take advantage of elite sport skills without having to spend ten years working out full-time? Drop me a line, and I’ll share a few lessons from sport that are also working for me as an entrepreneur and a coach. And I’ll help you understand how you can use the same skills and strategies to make your small business, your corporation, your project team more successful.

Remember to watch the Paralympic Games Opening Ceremony, March 7!
